US Virginia Ashburn 1 Data Center Virtual Tour

Get to know our data center
The following images give you an in-depth virtual tour of our US Virginia Ashburn 1 data center facility.

Virginia Ashburn 1 (VA1) Data Center facility is located in the heart of Northern Virginia's Data Center Alley in Ashburn that processes 70% of the world's Internet traffic and has superior fiber connectivity options and also has some of the lowest energy rates on the East Coast.
It is only 10 minute drive from the Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), and 45 minutes drive to Washington DC.

BOLLARDS
The data center is surrounded by concrete and steel bollards.
There is a 8-foot curved steel fencing surrounds MEP and loading dock area for an added layer of physical security.

Visitors to the data center use a security card or a two-way intercom to enter the facility. At the front desk, 24/7 security staff will confirm your identity with information on the security management system and your government issued photo ID card.

IRIS SCANNER
Iris scanner is set at the large door for biometric authentication to get into the mantrap.
All customers are required to register their iris information at the front desk.

All visitors need to pass through the mantrap to get into the office building.
There are four mantraps throughout the building.

PROXIMITY CARD READER
To get out of the mantrap and get into the office building, proximity card authentication is required.

Customer-dedicated lounge with a variety of amenities are provided for customer's comfortable stay.

GAME ROOM
Flat screen TVs and gaming consoles are placed in the customer-dedicated game room.

LOCKER ROOM/SHOWER ROOM
Customer-dedicated locker rooms and shower rooms are also provided.

CUSTOMER OFFICE SPACE
Dedicated, fully equipped office space of various sizes is also available as part of our colocation solutions. These offices are private, secure and require a proximity card and pin code authentication for access.

Deliveries are accepted 24/7 at the shipping and receiving area.
Security specialists are physically present for all deliveries for your secure shipping and receiving.

This conference room is also available for our customers to book and use for their meetings. Access to upstairs is limited.

NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTER (NOC)
Our NOC provides on-site and on-call support staff 24/7 for customer support and is fully integrated with RagingWire's other NOCs.

There are five server rooms in the data center totaling 70,000 ft2 of raised floor space. Nine levels of security are required from the entrance of the building in order to enter the data center floor.

Various customization is available for customers in our sever rooms.
It has a 3 ft raised floor with 1,500kg/m2 loading capacity and is able to accommodate high-density racks.

CAGE
Dedicated cages are available. We provide customized environments with integrated security, capable of supporting racks up to 62U in height including cabling and fit-up services.

RACK
We can accommodate various sizes of racks responding to customer's needs.

FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
The entire data center raised floor space is protected from fire by pre-action, dual-interlock, dry-pipe fire suppression system with photo-electric early warning smoke detectors for an efficient and worry free data center environment.

The highly secured Main Distribution Facility (MDF) contains data center infrastructure management systems and telecommunications. Virginia Ashburn 1 (VA1) Data Center is a carrier neutral data center with access to hundreds of telecommunications providers via multiple fiber entrances.

Our data center delivers 14.4 MW of critical IT load. Utility power is distributed throughout the facility through three electrical rooms with a total of nine 1,800 kW UPS systems and nine Main Switch Boards (MSB) that create nine isolated power paths. These systems are all backed up by RagingWire's patented 2N+2 infrastructure.

Two completely independent electrical distribution paths (2N), with an additional N+2 redundancy on critical components like UPS and generators - all protecting customer IT equipment.
The data center design delivers 100% availability with 2N+2 architecture and an operational model which exceeds the Tier IV standards.

Batteries are an important link in our 100% availability of power supply.
Redundant battery rooms contain flooded lead-acid battery strings with the latest technology and an innovative monitoring system so the batteries are always ready.

Generators and cooling systems are placed outside the building and surrounded by an 8-foot curved steel fence with a hardened security guard post.

GENERATORS
The facility maintains 14 two MW diesel generators for a total backup capacity of 28 MW of power.

TRANSFORMERS
RagingWire owns and manages nine step-down transformers that receive a highly protected, concrete encased utility power feed and convert it as part of RagingWire's patented 2N+2 power delivery system.

The data center facility has two highly efficient and powerful cooling systems. The air-cooling system acts as a backup to the primary water-cooling system. Each air-cooling chiller is equipped with economization functions. On the data center floor, custom-built 100-ton computer room air handlers (CRAHs) are used to cool high-density compute racks. These CRAHs can automatically bypass the chiller plant and use outside air when conditions are appropriate.

The primary cooling plant is a chilled water system that employs an innovative design with three sources of water for maximum reliability and cost-efficiency. The primary water source is an on-site well. The secondary source is a unique reclaimed water line (also known as "gray water") developed with the local water utility. The third source of water is standard potable water from the utility. This water-cooling plant is also equipped with economization functions for greater efficiency.
