NTT Com Recognised As The First Commercial Data Centre in Singapore To Receive Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp Of Approval

The accreditation was awarded to NTT Com’s Serangoon data centre (SGDC), a facility fully designed, built and owned by the organisation

Singapore, 20 January 2016 – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com), a global leader in ICT services, today announced that it is the first commercial data centre in Singapore to receive Uptime Institute’s Management and Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval for its facility in Serangoon.

Developed by Uptime Institute, the globally recognised accreditation focuses on operational excellence, and is awarded to data centres that are proven to support reliable 24x7 uptime performance and employ effective risk mitigation protocols.

The evaluation process for M&O certification is guided by five categories:

  • Staffing and Organisation
  • Maintenance
  • Training
  • Planning, Coordination and Management
  • Operating Conditions

The stringent testing criterion is essential for a site to achieve its full uptime potential, obtain maximum leverage of the installed infrastructure, and increase the opportunity for gaining energy efficiencies.

“We are honoured to be the first commercial data center to receive Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval, an internationally recognised standard for data centre excellence, in Singapore” says Mr Steven Neo, Executive Vice President, Enterprise Product Division, NTT Singapore. “SGDC exemplifies our dedication to keeping our operations optimal for stakeholders. We are confident that businesses will be kept running 24/7; backed with solid processes, management and highly qualified staff.”

NTT Com’s SGDC is designed to serve the needs of the financial services industry and enterprises that require high power, low latency networks and a stable and secure infrastructure to build on their private cloud.

NTT Com’s Commitment Toward Data Centre Reliability

In addition to Uptime Institute’s M&O Stamp of Approval, NTT Com’s SGDC has also recently achieved compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), an information security standard for organisations that handle branded credit card transactions and information storage. The certification assures NTT Com’s stakeholders that customer data is stored in a secured environment that meets the stringent and robust security processes adhered to by international financial institutions

“Security, reliability and stability are mission-critical areas that allow businesses to function at the highest levels,” explained Mr Neo. “These require a robust and secure data centre to ensure seamless operations. NTT Com is committed to upholding the highest standards and we will continue to streamline our operations and push towards data centre excellence so as to benefit our customers.”
